Air conditioning is considered one of the main source of having high electric bill. Yeah! We all need it but what if you’re really tight on budget? So you may turn off your Aircon and open your windows… that is the easiest way but may not be viable for all of us. Ok! Below I’ve listed some simple measures to lower air-con cost but still enjoy the comfort of having an air-conditioned room.
- Turn off all air-conditioner and then open all your windows. Place fans in strategic position will keep room comfortable.
- Installing/using programmable thermostat that has built-in timer helps room temperature comfortable all the time. I see some air-conditioner already have this feature and even electric fan which will start once air-conditioner stops.
- Strategic placement of the air-conditioner unit is also important as air-conditioner runs if air flows are good and shaded.
- Remove/reduce heat generating equipments inside the room.
- Reduce unwanted heat coming from entering the room. Planting trees around the house or room will also reduce heat from coming inside.
- “Energy Star” labeled air-conditioner are know to have good feature of energy saving. Replacing old model with new “Energy Star” models will also save.
- Regular maintenance of air-conditioner will ensure that your unit is on its top condition.
